  1. News Emerging From 2026 PBIBS
The 2026 edition of the Palm Boat International Boat Show (PBIBS) is underway for another year once again. Some of the attention has been placed on the large superyachts in attendance at this year's show. However, there have been many global debuts of yachts on the smaller end of the spectrum (under 100-feet). Additionally, there have been some announcements for new projects and designs that are now in the works by different builders.
  2. Overmarine used the PBIBS to announce their latest design, the Mangusta GranSport 50. Even though this is a similar model name to the GranSport 54 ( like the 2018-built "El Leon", now "Re Leone"), the design language has changed significantly for the GranSport 50. The forward bow 'grill' design has been carried over to this model from the Oceano 52. Overmarine continues to unveil new models having used the most recent Miami International Boat Show to unveil the GranSport 38.
  3. “The Mangusta GranSport 50 has everything one expects of a Mangusta yacht: a highly recognizable sporty profile that embraces generous, stylishly harmonized interiors and exteriors, in an engineering feat that combines high speed, fuel efficiency, and unmatched comfort with trans-oceanic range,” commented Overmarine Group CEO Maurizio Balducci.
  4. The unveiling of the latest flagship for Bilgin which will now be an 82-meter that is an evolution of the Bilgin 80-meter series which included the likes of "Tatiana", "Leona" and most recently "Al Reem". The yacht is being built for John Staluppi and aptly is now known under the name Project 'BOND'. The American owner has a knack for naming all of his yachts after James Bond movies. The exterior of this new yacht is by Unique Yacht Design while the interior is tasked by H2 Yacht Designs. Having named 18 yachts over the years after Bond movies it will be interesting to see what he names this latest project.
  5. Abeking and Rasmussen unveiled a new 70-meter platform called 'ARUBY'. This exclusive partnership between A&R and Reymond Langton Design resulted in a unique design. Inspired by the gemstone, the shipyard draws on its timelessness and durability, reflected in the yacht’s lines and choice of materials. Both the interior and exterior are the work of Reymond Langton with the yard handling the technical and engineering aspects. At 70-meters the design is offering clients 1,770 GT of interior volume across 4 decks. Accommodation is for 12 in six cabins with a master suite, 4 doubles (two can convert to twins) and a VIP.
  6. ARUBY offers the ease of a streamlined process and the assurance of a yacht built by the same people who deliver full custom superyachts. It's the smart choice for owners who value time and quality in equal measure," said Till von Krause and Björn Benecke, Sales, A&R. Propulsion will be diesel-electric. There will be battery storage onboard and a DC grid to ensure quieter but efficient operations. Power is envisioned to be rendered via five variable-speed main engines of approximately 650 kilowatts each. A 150 kilowatt per hour battery pack further enhances efficiency and silent operation. The yacht is expected to have a preliminary top speed of 16-knots and cruise at 12.5-knots.
  7. The Numarine 40MXP is at the show this year making its global debut. It is called "Mitan" and was delivered last year to South American owners. Overall Mitan is the second 40 MXP to have been launched coming after the first hull -"Miouch"-. The model is seen as a run-on model from the 37XP. Mitan however, differs from the first in style on the interior and exterior colouration and decor. She has a light grey hull compared to the coppery/bronze-ish hull of Miouch. The interior is also different with the second hull having a more minimalist atmosphere.
