Coming down from Canada for this show. As a first time attendee I am looking for suggestions as what to make sure we see and do. We will have the Thursday and Friday. Also if anyone else from the forum is going to be there would be nice to meet some folks.

It's kind of hard to give you any advice without knowing what your in to (boat wise) I will tell you this. Don't bother renting a car. Take a cab to what ever venue you'd like...It's probably going to take 200 bucks worth of cab rides, due to them spreading out the venues even further this year, with one of them being at the Miami Marine Stadium. Go to the shows website, and find a map of the Venues and familiarize yourself with the different streets. But Miami cabbies are famous for ripping people off who don't know where they are going. But from Collins Ave. (where the larger boats are) to the Miami Marine Stadium is a fairly short ride over the Causeway. Last time I went to the Show....I couldn't find parking anywhere on Collins Ave. So I drove over to an old buddy of mine...borrowed his boat, and tied up at the north end of the show. Now that I think about it, if you know anyone in Miami who owns a boat it would be the best way to get to most of the Venues! To my knowledge Miami doesn't have a water Taxi system like Ft. Lauderdale does.

We have a 42 ft Carver. But the dream is to look for a second boat to leave in Florida. The primary purpose of this trip is to look for a marina that we want to keep the boat. Then well shop for a live aboard. My thoughts are perhaps an older Hatteras in the 50 ft range.

If I'm not mistaken, the move to the Marine Stadium is set for 2016; this year the venues are the same as they have been for the last several years. So, to see the show you need to get to Miami Beach Convention Center. If you are not on MB, get to the show from the 2 Miami venues - Bayside Marina or Sea Isle Marina; then take the shuttle bus to MB. If in MB, use the parking at the north end of the Yacht Show [different event] and take the shuttle to the convention center. FWIW, the Yacht Show is the better event. We stay in MB and spend most of our time at the Yacht Show. We do the convention center, Bayside and Sea Isle all in one day.

The first time I when to the Miami Show we parked at the Marriott Hotel adjacent to the Sea Isle Marina. Pretty convenient and accessable from the interstates. For other things to do, you must take some time to visit South Beach, and we always enjoy dinner al fresco along the Lincoln Road mall in MB.

For marina shopping, you'll need to look at Coconut Grove as well as northward into Lauderdale. Really too much to do in 2 days. But, for liveaboard shopping, you need to spend you time at the Yacht and Brokerage Show. See you there.

You are correct that the venue hasn't changed and shuttle buses the best way to get around. Also, there is a water taxi that runs between Sea Isle and Miamarina (between the power boat show and the sail show) from 10 to 6 daily.

An interesting development on the 2016 Miami Boat show and the planned use of the Miami Marine Stadium. Key Biscayne is suing the city of Miami over those plans based on their concerns of the impact on the Rickenbacker Causeway. Their concerns are to file the suit, then immediately stay it, wanting to enter into mediation. It's their desire to have a face-to-face meeting with the city.

Sign up for the UBER app prior to arrival, easier, cheaper and more reliable than taxi's

4 days would really kill Key Biscayne? What I think Miami Boat Show really needs is a deal with the Water Taxi to ferry show customers to every location for a nominal fee. Granted they're a little further distance-wise compared to Fort Lauderdale locations, but it would probably be faster than tour buses most of the time and cut down on the vehicle traffic and make it easier for a lot of people.

Forget cabs in Miami... Hard to find, dirty and smelly (both cars and drivers). If you find one great but don't bother calling one by phone unless you can deal with Ebonic speaking operators with attitude. Uber is the way to go

I don't think you ll see many older and smaller boats (by today's standards) at th brokerage show but you may want to do some searches on YW and set up some showings in the area.

Traffic around Miami beach is a mess, And even the shuttle busses can take a long time to make it thru. Hopefully the marine stadium location in 2016 will improve things especially if they can set up a water taxi. After all the tennis tournament on the key brings a huge amount of traffic as well
  11. You can use the shuttle bus or the water taxi for free.

    SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE
Courtesy shuttle buses will run between all three locations of the show from one hour prior to show opening through one hour after show close daily.

    WATER TAXI SERVICE
Courtesy water taxi service is available between the New Yacht & Power Boat Show at Sea Isle Marina and Strictly Sail Miami at Miamarina at Bayside from 10 am–6 pm daily.

I've never had an issue catching a stray cab in front of the Collins location or Sea Isle.

The water taxi only goes between Bayside and Sea Isle, which are almost walking distance apart. Getting to and from the Collins location is the difficult part and it would be nice if the Water Taxi went from Collins to Sea Isle.

i haven't had any issues with Miami taxis either, but the traffic makes any land travel very slow. There are 2 shuttle systems. one runs from the yacht show on Collins to the MB convention center and back tothe yacht show parking venues north. the other runs from the convention center to Sea Isle and Bayside.

Last year there was a small (in terms of #of yachts) display at MB Marina, and a shuttle was available from the yacht show and back. Haven't heard if that will occur this year.

Very smooth. SEO specialists have evolved into innocent forum contributors now. It goes to show the power of social media and specifically; forums. Show Management has hired a team to provide helpful information without taking a link opportunity. The post will stand. Your membership is history.

We thoroughly enjoyed the show. The convention centre was excellent picked up a ton of info and materials for projects on the boat. I was however underwhelmed with the lack of boats at the marina. A couple of Silvertons and Marlows. Other than that smaller run abouts and fishing boats. We had no trouble picking up cabs outside bayside marina.

All the larger new boats are at the Yacht & Brokerage show along Collins. The new boat display at Sea Isle is a mere shadow of its former self, hence the no admission fee.

I have not seen the Sea Isle show this year, but did notice that there are even some used boats (pre-owned, not dealer demo's) at Collins, which I've never seen before.

While at the show I was aboard the new Marlow Yachts. There is no forum here for them. I am curious as to thoughts on these boats. Certainly beautifully finished. But what about quality, hulls etc.
