I know it is not until February 16th, but I am already getting fired up for the Miami Boat Show. It is like Christmas for me and my buddies. I hope that the accessories booths are better in 2011 than 2009 and 2010. Also, cannot wait to see the new boats, motors, props, electronics.
Miami Boat Show Y F's usually have a real good spread of pics and info after the show, along with one of the Captains from Palm Beach who posts some great pics..so,,just wait and enjoy..I was there last year at this time, but, this year, sitting in Vancouver waiting for my flight on Wed. to go back to Florida..
In year's past, I've spent all of my Miami Show time on Collins, but this year I spent a day at the convention center following a press conference where Volvo-Penta announced alliances with Yamaha Motor Corp and Garmin Marine. Pretty big news in the marine industry! While visiting some OEM booths on the convention center floor, I noticed a crowd gathering around the business end of an Intrepid. Hands down, without a doubt, the most impressive new product at the Miami Show... http://www.seven-marine.com/
Tom Serio and I walked the Collins docks after the show last night taking night time shots. Around 11:00 PM, I was all hoofed-out and headed home. Tom kept going until 1:00 AM! Tom's got a bunch of good shots he'll upload later. Today, I'm off to meet one of the best friends I never met... YF mod "Kevin", who's in sunny Lauderdale today, escaping that frozen tundra north of us known as Canada. Stay tuned for Tom Shots....
Hi everyone, Here in Miami covering the show for a number of publications including YF. Been working day and night (literally) but ready to bring the show to you. We'll start the coverage from the balcony of our hotel looking northward up Indian Creek. The day before the show opened yachts were still coming in. And near low tide they were certainly making chocolate milk out of the canal. Had a birds eye view of the Hatteras/Cabo display.
Here's a couple of wild Vikings being tied down. Must be a Lazzara land yacht. We'll see the ones you put in water. And here's one now. Cool paint job -- NOT! Looks like the new Hargrave DREAmer is ready to roll over everyone. Here she is in all her glory.
Ed, looks like you were down here from your photos. Weather was sunny and temps mid 70's to 80 degrees. Cool mornings and nights make South Florida the place tobe in the winter. Another view of DREAmer. That's the Trinity Zoom Zoom Zoom sticking her bow out beneath the towers. NISI introduced a 24 meter yacht. The engine room had plexi floors to show the underfloor plumbing. And here's the open air salon on the NISI. Night shot of the Hatt display. More soon. Have to be on the docks early Sunday morning and work on my tan.
Various events were scheduled during the show, from product announcments to crew gatherings to private yacht parties. Probably a fewer than in years past, folks still had options and some off-hours fun. Yacht builder IAG is bringing their new Primadonna line to the US. Built in China with Italian building knowledge and experience, their first offering is a 127-foot model. During the unveiling party, we took a quick look.
YachtAid Global, started by Mark Drewelow and supported by a number of yacht owners and captains such as M/Y Big Fish and M/Y SloJo, delivers aid to those in need in areas where they cruise. They had a fundraiser at Sunset Harbor attended by many in the yachting circles. Aside from a stuffy event, this outdoor party had a band, dj, host yacht (M/Y Pure Bliss) and a visit by some aquatic friends; real mermaids. Our ever-promoting leader had the girls give the YF symbol. Not a bad look.
Let's get started around the show. Bythe way, we did get night shots of the yachts and they will be posted later. Beneteau's 52 A Magnum with a custom passerelle Bug screen? Good looking power Heesen M/Y Perle Noire
Hatteras has some new offerings on their GT sportfish line. YF did the review on the 60 GT, and Hatt introduced the 54 GT and 63 GT. Feadship GO coming... ...and going
J Craft had one of theirs on display. I have no details on it as I was too busy admiring the look. Picture tooling around the harbor or cutting glass across a morning bay in this baby.
