2004 Cummings 480

    I have a surging problem with a cummings 8.3 6CTA 480hp. 2004 Tiara 3800. On a cold start the engine surges and cannot maintain a steady idle. Once up to operating temp and/or run with a load the problem goes away. We pressure tested the fuel supply and there are no air leaks. Any ideas?

    I'd check the fuel selenoid.

    How many hours do they have on them? Were the valves adjusted at the proper intervel? Surging on cold startup is usually caused by air in the fuel system, but can also be caused by a bad injector.
