The following pictures are from the Ft. Lauderdale Winterfest Boat Parade, on Saturday, December 13, 2003. Unfortunately, the night time pictures downloaded as "black blurs", so I've posted pics taken of a few parade boats and the flotilla that lines the seawalls of the intracoastal, just prior to sunset. Enjoy!

This first picture is a double deck party barge built specifically for this event by Steve Savor, who owns a Westship. The barge included palm trees and the upper deck was filled with sand, tiki bars and enough pretty girls to give Hugh Heffner a run for his money!

This is the Partridge Family floating tour bus with the Grand Marshall of the event... David Cassidy. David is a Ft. Lauderdale resident and was recently awarded the "Key to the City", as he is active in the community.

By my estimates, better than 70% of the homes lining Ft. Lauderdale's Intracoastal Waterway were decorated for the Christmas Parade. There are hundreds of homes with decorating that borders on a professional level, but this home got my vote as the Holiday Home Grand Prize Winner. I'd hate to get his electric bill next month!

Not a part of the parade, but docked at Bahia Mar and ALWAYS worthy of inclusion, Larry Ellison's (Oracle) "Katana". This is as close as any civilian will ever come to owning a battleship. As best my cerebrally challenged memory can conjure... this is a 242' Blohm & Vost built yacht... with a bow that has less freeboard than some Bayliners!

This is the KISS 99.9 entry. (a South Florida country music radio station). In the immortal words of Jeff Foxworthy... you might NOT be a redneck if your truck can be towed by your boat!

A local television station, Channel 7. They also had their "eye in the sky" following the parade. I'm sure they'll find a way to "sensationalize" the event.

This is the Seminole Indian Tribe entry, which means there was probably gambling onboard...

The "Overhead Door Company" entry. Looks like they've kept their overhead down. :)

Parade Traffic. It's only a matter of time before someone installs a traffic light and navigation lights are replaced by brake lights!

There are usually about 100 boats/yachts in the Ft. Lauderdale Christmas Parade. I was unable to take pictures of many of the better entries, because the intracoastal is shut down to local traffic near sunset. Taking day time pics doesn't do the lighting justice. Here's one of the larger entries...

And one of the medium size entries. (not to take away from the hard work these people put forward for any size boat)

This is the "PC Universe" entry. Makes you wonder where the "Mac" entry is? :)
