I am about to go on a trip down the Potomac then into the Chesapeake. Do you think I'd use more gas by going 20 MPH (about 3600 RPM) for 5 hours or 10 MPH (about 2400 RPM) for 10 hours? I have the dual 6.2 MPI on the boat.

    Thanks

I'd have to say you'd use more at the lower speed, at 10 knots the boat will be pushing water instead of planning, and your hull speed should be around 6 knots which would be the best for mileage

    I have a '98 359 Mariner with 454 Crusaders and can tell you for a fact that at 12 knots I use 1.5 gal/mile, 14 kts (on plane) almost 2 gal/mile and at 8 kts 1 gal/mile...
