I just got a Post 40. She is a fixer upper. I believe it is hull #35. No serial number or hull number but on the cross board for the engine hatch it says STBD 40-35. If anyone has knowledge of these boats I would like to chat. Just like to learn what I can about it. I am in Hampton Roads Virginia and should be launching into the water soon after wood repairs and bottom paint. Still have a lot to do once it is in the water. It is a nice looking boat and I wonder what performance will be like. Twin Merc 454's at 330 hp each.
That is a classic! Unfortunately I do not know a lot about the those earlier boats. We docked next to an earlier 70's 40 ish Post with gassers a couple of year ago. It had been restored very nicely. I think I recall the owner say it cruised at about 17 knots? Throw some pictures up. There is a pretty good Post following here, and I know we'd all like to see your new "honey".
I use to own a 1968 37' POST, I installed the same exact engines. It would cruise around 18-19 knots,at w.o.t. it ran up to 24-25 knots. That boat had great lines, and was just a good boat. Had to sell it for something bigger. Looked for another POST, all we found were ones beat to hell or just super expensive. I now own a Viking, but I still look at POSTS Good Luck !!
