Hello all, First post so bear with me. I'm finishing a lifetime project on a 1962 steel hull roamer. Am needing to know how many anodes I'm required to discharge static? Have no background on this. Greatly appreciate all comments. Thanks p.s. anybody know what an anode is?
Are you talking of anodes to put on the steel hull, it is from zinc. Also on shafts and rudders. Probably 20 on the hull....
anodes An anode corodes so your boat doesn't basically. Kind of magic, but it attracts the corosion in a sense.
Where to learn about anodes I have no affilitation with this outfit but they have good information about anodes and this link has a calculator to determine how many pounds of anode you need on your hull: http://www.boatzincs.com/anode_weight_calculation.html Makes a difference whether you will be in fresh or salt water. You cannot overpotect a metal hull with "zinc" anodes and having more just makes them last longer. Definitely don't want to underprotect your hull and risk damaging your underwater money parts. Congratulations on your refit! Bill G
