This 1958 Roamer 35 is in good condition for her age though she does need some attention on few things. In 2003 we pulled her original MCL 175 hp Chris Craft engines to have them rebuilt due to excessive oil leakage on one and oil burn on the other. While the rebuilder slowly disassembled the engines, the estimated cost continued to climb above what we had budgeted for. At that time we decided to repower her with brand new Mercruiser 5.7 TKS 260 HP engines. It truly was the best decision, everything on the engines were new (starters, alternators, carburetors, and transmissions) and the boat has never been more trouble-free. At that time we had to install new propeller shafts (longer), new cutlass bearings, rewire about 50% of the boat, install new gauges and mahogany panel, and change from the Chris-O-Matic shifters to mechanical cable shifters. Other upgrades include stripping the interior walls and cabinetry (in cabin) and restaining and refinishing them and installing a wood cabin sole. Later, we also sanded the entire hull, ground out cracking fairing and refilled it, primed and repainted the hull in an attractive navy blue with red boot stripe, black antifouling and white decking/cabin top much like the new Roamers. We have received compliments everywhere we go in her, people always wave or give us the thumbs-up! The entire bilge was cleaned of the old loose mastic and primed and re-painted. We also added a full-width teak swim platform with stainless steel and mahogany swim ladder, new double person helm and companion seats. Features include, life jackets, throw ring, chromed bell, boat hook, pressurized fresh water, electric flushing ceramic head with 40 gallon holding tank, ice box (is a refrigerator but has freon leak), convertible dinette/bunk, convertible settee/bunk bed, v-berth, cabin heater (not hooked up to engine), screened windows/ports/deck hatch, forward wardrobe/closet, drawer storage, hand held spotlight, owner's manuals for the Mercruiser engines, complete packet from the Mariner's Museum including original sales literature and Chris Craft build record showing she was shipped to Bayfield, Wisconsin through Minnetonka Boat Works in Wayzata, Minnesota, mahogany flag pole with ensign, and chromed bow pole for burgee. For the past twelve years, this boat has created many awesome memories for our young family, she is now ready to bring your family many more!:)
