What would a 1 paragraph summary look like. I know, Both are great names but both must have pros and cons observed by few men like yourself that have experience with these historic builders. Thanks . years 1956 to 1970 . end of wood era.

I have owned both. Matthews - hands down the more robust structure.

Here in south coastal Ga & N/E FL, the surviving Eggs should have been burned long ago.
Shame, they are good looking boats.
What Mathews we see, are owned by folks with better check books and look well.

Not a good or fair view to report (sadly) but maybe a view of what people want to keep floating and up to service in this area.

If I had a choice to keep one up myself, it would be the Mathews.

I have a partner in SC with one (Mathews). He should be chiming in soon.

By comparison, Egg Harbors are much more lightly built as compared to Matthews (with two t's) boats. Eggs are noted for typically experiencing broken ribs in the turn of the bilge area. Not so with Matthews.

Thanks to all. So with all that being said matthews made a 42 flybridge aaprox 1953 to 1958 and a 45 anniversary 1960 model. Is there any guidance for those two. If a choice had to be made. Thanks
