It's normal glass, with a nano thin layer of glass added too it, I could imagine some minor optical effects in a lens but unlikely on a human scale, and no tint either since it is a layer of glass particles about four orders of magnitude thinner than a human hair. I doubt they are producing anything yet, just heard about it a year ago. Why would you take a squeegee to it?

Good morning- I both agree and disagree with lots of the posts in this thread, but don't have the time to get into all of it- however, as a practicing yacht designer, I would posit a few things: I- as a designer that likes to push the envelope whenever possible, and sometimes when not- appreciate the very different approach displayed by the Schöpfer concepts. The effort it requires to present such an idea is considerable, even though as a designer I would take issue with them functionally as well as aesthetically. ( to my eye, the design forms allow too much "blobism" for something that is a vehicle. I see the potential inherent in the proportions, but were it me at the drawing board, I would like to see a bit more purpose or direction in the shape and format, however, that is fodder for another conversation)

My second note, is that the guys behind these designs have done an incredible job of saturating every single form of yacht media available, and I am not sure how. You cannot really go anywhere in the yachting world and not see these renderings lurking about somewhere. That, as a matter of effort, again, is commendable, but I am at a point where I am ready to beg for mercy. Lets see some newer new blood. Pick one of the more deserving fledglings from here, http://www.coroflot.com/groups/yachts and thrash them around a bit. [caution- there are both babies and masters of marine design at play here]

Thirdly- I am a real, live designer with sea time, from mucking about one hull in the air on a small Cat, to crawling miles out to sea in heavy weather, to cocktail parties onboard in Monaco- all experiences I draw upon when putting pen to paper, and experiences I hope to expand upon as time passes. Respect both new and old- you'll go farther that way. Keep the conversation alive, guys( and gals)!

The funny thing is that Monaco once had plans for a floating extension of about the same size as the landbased Principality. With an airstrip and everything.

I saw this floating French fantasy on Autoblog last Friday. It caught my attention for a fleeting moment, but the moment quickly passed.
