Just thought we should wish crew well.

My apologies, link removed. I did not see the two as being that similar.

It could be because we do not encourage people to go to other forums..?

I know the site being referred to, they aren't really competitive, but some of the advertisers may be. That is what happens when forums are commercial ventures, the commerce takes precedence to the information.

It happens. I am just surprised this has not been mentioned, since it happened nearly 2 weeks ago.

    Scot,
Why don't you cut/paste the information?

According to Superintendent Evans of the Exuma and Ragged Island District Police in The Bahamas, at 12:30 a.m. on Monday, February 15, six yacht crew-members left the Staniel Cay Yacht Club to return to their yacht in a 300-hp Intrepid when the tender ran up on some rocks. All six crew-members, two females and four males from the U.S., Canada and the UK, were airlifted to a hospital in Nassau. Superintendent Evans said that two of the crew-members were discharged and the other four were held with serious injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

A local captain tells us they were the crew of M/Y Man of Steel, and says they hit the southwest corner of Big Majors at high speed.

This accident occurred mere months after a center console tender from M/Y Integrity hit the rocks, also after leaving Staniel Cay. All three people involved were seriously injured.

    Scot,
I heard guests, possibly owner was on board when they hit the rocks. Speed may be an issue but unsure. Several folks were in critical condition, unsure how they are now. Only received one report so could not validate details so have not posted anything.

To do so without a citation to the original source would be a legal violation of copyright laws.

Info can be attributed to Janine.

That should solve the copyright problem:)

No as she is not the publisher, but I doubt it will be an issue in this case. I have seen it go wrong at other forums though.

Sorry, guess I though that was implied. Anytime we share info or photos, credit of the source must be cited.

if there were serious injuries you can be sure speed was involved... And alcohol because if someone hit those rocks while sober it s even more inexcusably stupid!!

    Rockes don't pop up overnight...

I looked back at said site upon reading Henning's post of copyright. I also noticed said sites publisher (which I did not see before. How many people look for that info?), thus giving me the answer of conflict of interest, so to speak.

I will be more thorough from now on. A little extra attention to detail is not such a bad thing anyway.

    Thanks

The problem with the Exumas is that it's pitch black over there at night. There are a lot of very small islands that are nearly submerged at high tide and they're a dark grey in color. Everyone runs around 60 mph at night trusting there trusty chartplotter, not realizing that they are usually off from 300-500 feet in that area and it varies on whether you're going north or south. And, after many cocktails everyone is blasting to get back and instead of running out to the bank 2 miles which is free and clear of obstacles they try to take the inside route jutting around all of these little islands in the dark........
