    I'm in need of a surveyor near Newport RI. Looks like I'm a two boat owner again:rolleyes:
    Any suggestions?

    HAhaha! Yep, I need it like I need a brain tumor. I was actually surprised when I told my wife that I bought another boat. I got home this afternoon after signing the contract & told her. She said "oh god, what now" but after showing the pictures, she likes it! NICE!!!! The only catch is that when I sell my Bertram, she gets a kitchen renovation/addition. Fair enough!

    It's a 50 Hatteras with 1100hp 12v183 MTU's:cool:

    Don't know any offhand in RI - perhaps contact the IYRS or a yard like Alden for recommendations? A little over 20 years ago we used a fellow named Holaday down in Noank. Good guy. Looks like either he or his son is still in business.

    Nice. Enjoy, and enjoy the renovations. At least it wasn't a fur coat and Bentley.:D (It's interesting how married guys always seem to pay twice for their toys. Sort of goes along with how much it costs when my wife saves me money.:) )

    Your Bertram 50 is actually the model I really wanted to buy. I settled for a 46 since I am also a two boat owner. Too bad or I would have been interested in yours.

    Yes, that's the one. The MTU was sent down to the factory for a complete rebuild after the owner overheated it & kept running. He is 82 & didn't hear the alarm. It's at the marina and needs to be set back in place. Otherwisem the 1994 boat only has 1500 original hours & is in extremely nice shape. He cruised around & wasn't into fishing.

    Now for my Bertram. I've heard it's bad if you are a two boat owner. Why not change your position for the better and become a three boat owner??:rolleyes: I'm ready to talk numbers!

    Thanks. I also have a list of accredited surveyors in CT/RI but I wanted to know if anyone had any recent dealings with anyone in particular.

    Take a really nice 46 Bertram and a really nice 500 Sea Ray in trade?
    I am ready! Although I am already getting into my 46 pretty deep. New countertops, a new tower, microcommander controls, etc, etc, etc..

    I looked at that Hatt too and talked to the guy. I did stop short of flying up there. He was not very flexible on price.
    The thing that bothered me is that the motor came out in pieces. Now it is all together and won't go through the door.
    He was suggesting taking it back apart to put it in. I would rather cut the back wall out of the cabin and put it in that way. But I have great glass guys on staff but no MTU guys. That is the catch to that deal.
    He told me he was going to put the motor in and sell it complete but that was six months ago.
    Have you gone to see it?
    It sounds like it will be a very nice boat when done but u have to get that motor back in that hole.
    I would update the interior on that one too.
    Personally I think your B50 is a better looking boat.

    Fortunately the pictures do it no justice. It is immaculate inside! A few minor things will be changed to give it an updated look like loosing the full height refrigerator and putting side by side refrig/freezer under the counter. I have a great MTU guy who is going to take the manifolds and turbos off & it will get through the door. There is just enough when we take the trim off. If it needed further wrenching, I'd go through the bulkhead but it looks like it won't be happening.
    The owner used this boat very little and it really shows it. The price was slightly flexible but it did included the newly rebuilt engine!
    Come on, rustle up 250k & come get my boat;) Everything is already done! Your probably going to be into the 46 for the same money. I'm sure your wife won't mind being a three boat owner.You can call her from time to time from your new 50' home after she kicks you out LOL.
    I see there are a couple of Bertram 50s on the market down in TX. Did you look at any of them before you bought the 46?

    I used Dockside Marine Survey - Mark Sepe, he was easy to deal with as I am in Va. and boat was in RI, but unfortunealy I was interested in a "Dud".
