I realise that anchors opens up all kinds of debates, but I would like to keep this simple if that is possible. I would like to get the opinion of only those owners or skippers who actually use an Ultra Anchor, in particular on boats weighing over 40,000kg. I would really appreciate an opinion based on actual experience. Thanks.

I've only had a few years experience with Ultra anchors, but would highly recommend a Rocna anchor instead. And if you can give me a few weeks to get back to Brisbane I can run you through the different anchors on offer.

Also to make this thread non-bias, the members should have experience with Manson, Mason supreme, Delta, Ultra, Rocna, Bruce, and any other anchor on offer. Cheers

Thanks for the reply but I not looking for a comparison just some feedback based on actual experience with an Ultra anchor. You state a few years experience, I would be interested to get your comments on the Ultra specifically.

Take Five, I haven't had the field experience you’re asking. I do know there is a Cabo Express down at the RQYS with one of these picks on the front of his boat. You could always try and get in contact with him if you want, or I could try if you want when I get back to oz?

The issue I have with the s/s Ultra anchor is it's going to cost you around $2000+++, and to really get the full performance from the anchor, you have to spend another $300+++ on the Ultra swivel. Then you have the chance of loosing the anchor, and there are some rocky bottoms around Moreton Bay ;)

Now the Rocna will be under $1000 (t/s 40-50' boat), and will perform just as good, if not better then the Ultra, even a standard Manson plough with the long shank will do the job.

Just something to think about, thanks for your time. Cheers
