I've just watched an interview with the crew on dry land.

They said they were blindfolded and sat on the aft while only the skipper helmed under armed guard and under tow.

    Not nice.

Word around here was that their prop got caught up in fishing nets, and with very little wind around the yacht drifted close to Sirri Island. As far as im aware only 2 similar incidents involving sailing yachts has happned in the last 20 years.
I would also guess they were not keeping a radio watch, Ive heard the Iranian coast guard on numerious occasions warning vessels to keep 5 miles away from the 'contested' islands.
Rule in the gulf ; Dont go near any Iranian Islands and if your drifting that way - anchor, its not that deep around here.
