I was reading a old Burger "Yard News" the other day and on the back of it they had "The Burger Exchange" which shows different burger boats with their original names, owners and their launch year, and their respective current name and owners. I though that it would be great to start a thread where people could post pictures of Burgers that they have owned or crewed on at some time and some info on the boat then and now. When I was a kid, I had an opportunity to crew a couple of times on a 1997 85' Burger named Evelyn-U (original name). She has since been sold and I think her new home is somewhere in the Bahamas. Here are a few pics of her at the 2004 FLIBS.

P.S. Does anyone know if Sis W will be at the 2007 FLIBS considering she as been put on the market recently?

Other than a pretty profile and some charm, what's the appeal of these old hunks of aluminum from the 70's and 80's. They are not such great sea boats in a head sea especially, tend to roll badly and in following seas horrible to control. The older vessels most all have rotten FRESH water tanks and there is no acess to clean the fuel tanks with out cutting up the boat. I have personal knowledge of a crew that filled a tank only to have it split in the owners cabin. The aluminum blister problem is horrible. The old wiring even has spin in fuses. If you want a boat to restore an old Burger is a great project but if you want to cruise get a better boat for the same money. In the words of a shipyard owner. "I will see this boat more than you will". Yes I'm cranky as I am crew aboard an old Burger now underway and it's loud and the vibrations are horrible. These older boats stink.
