    hello guy's

i'm working on a refit of a 12m long sail boat
my costumer buy for his boat the xantrex link 20 batt monitor

everty is connectic on the right way
i have used the orginal shunt that come with it

the display is connect with a cat5 utp cable

the only thing i changet is the shunt possision (and now it are 2 shuts inplace of the 2shuns with a connection on 1 side)

orginale have to be in the negative side of the load
and from there it split to the 2 negative's of the batt

because of the cable onready on the boat and of the hard to get/mount of the batt i place the shunt in the possitive side before the load

the charge is connect straight to the batt's
all the nega are connectic at the batt straight
    (all orginal)

the display show the batt volt but at the Amps it say thet the installion use 510A (always with or with out load)

i have send this problem already to xantrex it self but the dont responce back to me already for 3 weeks

i hope some one here can tell me what the problem is and what i need to do
i also hoop i explane it little bit clear otherwise let me know and i try it agian

    tchau

All of these battery monitoring systems are designed for the shunt to be installed in the negative (B-) return to the battery bank. So step 1 is to install the shunt correctly.

A common mistake/problem is that the shunt has a battery side and a load/charging source side. The only connections to the battery side of the shunt are, you guessed it, the B- from the battery bank being monitored. All of the loads and the charging sources are to be connected to the opposite side of the shunt.

I have installed dozens of these systems with no problems.

    hey charlie

    thx for the info

but i already change the postion of the shunt and it work fine now ( before your replie)

i took a good look agian on the cables close to the batt's and saw a easy way to make it good with out changing to mutch cable's

at my old job i made also many of those monitorings systems but we made then differnt with a batt box and a batt monitor from mastervolt( at heesen yachts holland)

this was my firts time that i to use this model/ brand

    some boat info;
it is a very old sailboat (around the 20 years) made in the usa and the cable's and tubes are not so nice made and i came to late at the refit to make it all good loking (to bad i did it where i can )

so thats why i try first this way but as you geust it did not work so good hahah

but end of story it is all fix
    and working good
