I am interested in the purchase of a 47" - 50" Viking Sportfish. I am looking for a well maintained vessel, from the early to mid 90's. I recently sold my 46 Post and would like to buy prior to the summer season. I have been looking on the different internet sites but have not found much of a selection. I am an individual seriously looking for this style boat . Any information will be appreciated. BJM

Have you bought a boat yet? I purchased a 47 Vik 4 years ago and am very satisfied with it.

I'd definitely take a 50 w/820 MAN's over the 1050's, and the 50 is much better all around than the 47. There are lots of 50's available.

Other than the additional state room, what did you find better about the 50 over the 47?

    50 over 47 Viking

Better access in the engine room, better power option. Back to that dependable 820 HP 10 Cyl. And, the resale market is better with a 3 cabin boat. Range is great on the 50 @ 10-12 kts.

I've never run a 50' with the 820 mans, but ran one with the 1050's and it was really fast. The 50' has a great cockpit, great fishing amenities, a nice and roomy interior layout and a nice bridge layout and is a great boat for it's size.
