Just a head's up for the local crew, the 2nd Annual Palm Beach SuperCar Weekend takes place January 26th thru the 28th.

On Friday, Ferrari owners from around the world will descend on Moroso for track events. This is where you get to see $500k Ferrari's treated like rental cars. On Saturday, the Breakers Hotel on Palm Beach Island hosts a number of events, including a caravan drive around the island. On Sunday, the Concord D'Elegance takes place at the Wellington Polo Fields. Over 400 Ferrari's are expected, with an estimated 29 FXX's.

I'm planning to attend the Breakers event on Saturday, about noon time. If anyone from YF is interested in going, PM me for my cell and let's hook up!

Take some pictures of those sweet machines for us. Can't make it as I have to give a boating lesson at that time.

    Tom,

I'll be sure to take some pics. Probably won't be as good as yours. I tend to frame a complete object. You have a way of capturing details that convey the lifestyle.

    Ken,

I'll call you when the cars start turning red.

Just returned from Moroso. This was was one of the best events I've attended in years. Still suffering from sensory overload. The speed, the sound, the smell, the girls, ahem.. and the cars were nice too. Yep, I'm a vocational student at heart. The Ferrari event is essentially club racing, but the big guns show up for this too, along with a lot of guys with more dollars then sense, pun intended.

Must have been 300 Ferrari's, in every year & model imaginable. I was there in support of the wannabe class, with my pocketbook's version of an exotic car... the Japerrari. Still, I held my head high as FXX's, Enzo's and car's that start with the letter "F" pranced by me like I was an old horse put out to pasture.

The event was very enjoyable. It was a relaxed atmosphere that was conducive to meeting owners, learning from drivers, and sneaking a peak under the hoods of cars you've only heard about, never seen. I felt fortunate to escape into a world most only dream about. But in reality... some things are better to admire from the distance.

This isn't one of them. EVERYONE should have a Ferrari!!! :D

As I'm on the way to the Breaker's event today, I'll leave you with this passing shot from yesterday. I didn't attempt to pass back...

Ferrari tip of the day: If the exhaust pipes are exiting the tail lights... it's an FXX! This is Preston Henn's ride. If the name sounds familiar to our local crew, think Swap Shop!

That guy has an unreal collection of cars. What did it for me was when I saw Don Johnson's white Testarossa sitting in the arcade of Swap Shop. Immediately took me back to the late 80s. :)

While taking this photo, because I was impressed with the horn array (I like loud, deep sounding yacht horns with their polished chrome, but enough about that fettish), I caught the yacht behind it flying a Ferrari flag. Owner is a big fan (probably collector) and was in town for the event.

    Do they take Mastercard?

    Valet Parking - $20
    Valet Tip- $10
2 Tickets For 200 Ferraris On Display At The Breakers - $100
2 Absolut Screwdrivers To Sip While Strolling - $25
Watching Carl Struggling With His High Maintenance Date - Priceless!
    :D
Good to see you Carl. A good event even if it was a little pricey.
BTW- You got out just in time. After Bradleys we went to Cuchina and then back to Bradleys- I went home about 12 hours later (poorer to the tune of about $2K!)

    ROFLMAO! :D

Kenny Bracewell is YF's hero of the month. He removed the rear view mirror, got a hot new car, a cool new chick... and he just got even! ;)

Although I've got a few years on you Ken, you're a lot wiser. I'm letting you pick my next date...!

Yes, the price of prancers (and bulls) have dropped. Although everything is for sale... if the price is right, these venues are mostly attended by owners interested in event participation; not so much to part with their toys.

I'll be at the track event on Thursday. Just love to see million dollar Ferrari's treated like rental cars!

I had to beg out of the trip last minute in favor of a week on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. However I've got four of my staff there covering the events, including the premiere of the Spada Codatranca prototype as well as the latest (restored) supercar to emerge from the private scuderia of Jim Glickenhaus making its debut.

Despite the economy taking a hit there are some things that are more vital than the bare necessities, n'est-çe pas?

My guys are on their way. I'm in Vermont skiing for an extra day, then on my way to Central America.

    So bummed to miss this.

I went to the Cavalino track event yesterday. Attendance was WAY down. Even the number of teams competing was down. Normally, the event brings a lot of South Florida F-car enthusiasts who use the event as an excuse to accumulate some numbers on the odometer, but there were very few horses in the stable. A sign of the economic times?

Hate to say it, but the best part of the day was watching Allen Johnson and Greg Anderson make practice runs with their NHRA Pro Stock drag cars. Turns out, a bunch of NHRA teams are using PBIR to practice in the off-season... and they like the new drag strip. It would be awesome if Top-Fuel migrated south of Gainesville in the future.
