    Wes,
The day I was out there neither ship was bobbing, but I didn't think anything of it, due to their length and the fact that Legacy weighs in over 400 tons when fitted out (a bit lighter now without the masts or fluids).
Perhaps you saw her at low tide? I did notice thet the bridle on Legacy's bow was still on and jutting into the water, so she may be anchored that way.
I'm sure they didn't bring Legacy from one shallow area to another.
And as we write this, Legacy may be on her way to Miami by now. I'll have to call Mr. Halmos for an update.
    Here's another shot...

Great job reporting there Captain Tom! Thanks for keeping us abreast . . . and kudos to Mr. Halmos and his crew for having the tenacity to persevere and to see this salvage through to completion. I hope he gets every penny he's entitled to from the carrier and enjoys a restored Legacy for many years to come!!!

    Leschins,
Thanks for the kind words. I have really enjoyed following the saga of Legacy, and it's great that she is floating again.

Wes, I do plan to keep on following the story, to Miami and points beyond. As of Monday (March 17) when I last spoke to Peter Halmos, Legacy was still in Key West Harbor, tied up to the Helen B. The salvage crew has been busy cleaning up the site and trucking the gear out of town. My guess is that they don't want to have to come back once they sail away. They also want to be sure she is seaworthy for the ride back. It may take another several weeks to get the right people on site to finalize the plans.
I'll be waiting for the call when she is hauled for inspection, and will get down there for an update.

Owner wants to be certain that she can handle the tow back to Miami, and is taking time to check everything out. Also wants to try and start engines which will take some prepping. Salvage team has been cleaning up the area where Legacy was stuck, trucking out the equipment and gear (there was a lot if stuff out there). Guess they don't want to have to come back once Legacy is gone.

    Ron,
Here's a shot of the bow from right underneath. Look closely and you can see me in the reflection, laying on the deck of an 18' footer.

    Hi,

I would say the anchors and chains were removed a longtime before salvage began to reduce the weight.

It is tied up Stbd side to the Salvage Vessel which is probably why there is a line clearly see coming out of the Stbd Fwd Fairlead and leading to Stbd.

I would therefore also say it doesn't need and anchor whilst moored to another vessel or stationary object.
  20. I watched Legacy race. Pretty terrible to see that happen. Does anyone know if any work has begun on her yet?
