Does anyone know of any online resources which indicate distance between ports.

Specifically I’d like to find out what the shortest distances are to get from USA to the Med, most likely using Nassau in the Bahamas as a jump off point on this side of the pond and then heading East with a couple of nonspecific refuel points on the way. Vessel will likely have a range of around 4,000 miles

    Thanks

Thank you Lars and Garry, Sorry for being so ignorant and not checking previous postings. Those websites where exactly what I was looking for.

    Thanks

Yes, but does it take into consideration the distance traveled up & down waves from point-to-point? ;)

Sorry... late afternoon, sick at home with a cold, attempt at humor. Going back to my bottle of NyQuil now.

If you factor the extra fuel to go up the wave and the fuel savings coasting down the other side, it should all come out in the wash:)

The software from Netpas is excellent. I have been using it, (free), for 3 years. As it is web based they really have lots of ports in the data base. If they are missing a port they will include it quickly if you advise them. You can build up an itinerary, display results graphically on a map, email the results, get an ETA calculator etc.

We have used Netpas as well for our ship operating and chartering activities and have had no problems with it. Pretty good since it is free. Just keep in mind that the free version allows only 5 lookups per day.

I mean the map is not interactive or I can not write in the positions, but have to find ports in a directory which takes forever. If I am not missing something?

Dunno, for me it was working pretty fine. I have re-checked the site after your message and it seems they aren't using CSS sprites for displaying the flags. I think that may be the reason why it is slow for some.
