The shaft logs on my steel roamer are very thin in some spots, pin holes. What type and thickness of steel should this be replaced with? Is there an effective repair process for this? Can I use Stainless Steel and bolt it to the hull and bulkhead, with flanges welded at each entry point? Also what is the best procedure for alignment? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I only want to do this once.

    Shaft Log Repair

We had a problem on our aluminum shaft log and what we did was took a composite cuttless bearing and reamed out the rubber, then we inserted it into the shaft log and set it in aluminum epoxy
It makes the opening a little smaller but not much and has worked great
    Should last longer than me
    Hope this helps
