Hi there, I'v had a bit of a look through the forums but can't seem to find what I'm looking for.. I'm studying Nav Arch and a wee project I have means I'm interested in how a weight budget might look for a 30 metre 45 tonne single masted sailling yacht. I am also interested in actual weights for major items eg what is a reasonable weight for a 30m carbon hull, and deck? 40m mast section/rig etc.? what about sails per m^2? I'm just playing at the moment so I'm not exactly chasing every last kg - ball park values or rules of thumb work fine. I realise most of you lot are into motor yachts, however someone might know something... ...actually come to think of it a weight budget for a large motor yacht might come in handy as well, if you happen to have one lying around you want to post on the internet for all to see... Thanks in advance, Rob
Rob, Some of the details you need are closely guarded secrets for various reasons. Can be because the weight budget is excellent and the other because of sheer emberrasment because they completely blown the budget. You could however contact some manufacturers for details like Rhebergen composites in Amsterdam for hull and deck issues and Southern Spars for the mast. Chances are that because there is no business involved, you will get no information.
