In about a months time we're going to be making the trek over to the Bahamas for a month or so and plan to spend a lot of time in the Exuma's. I'm looking for a good guide and digital charts. I've spent a lot of time in the Abaco's and found the following guide and charts (both digital and paper) extremely useful:

    http://www.wspress.com/books.htm

Therefore, I'm looking for something similar for the Exuma's. This seems to be popular from what I've seen:

    http://www.amazon.com/Exuma-Guide-C...0914209?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1176227305&sr=8-1

But I can't find any digital charts associated with it, which are useful. Any other suggestions for a better guide or a source for good charts (it's nice when the book uses the same charts as on the plotter, like the Abaco guide did)? Thanks.

    Hey Carl,

Hope all is well with you. I hadn't seen that report - thanks for the link.

Will do, Ken, thanks! :) I'd love to gain some insight from your first-hand knowledge of the islands.

Go with the Explorer chart books, and their electronic version on C-map/MAX.

The Explorer charts are right on and have saved my bacon many times.

The explorer charts have always been the gold-standard for the Bahamas, but Map-Tech has caught up. Their electronic charts are also very good.
Still- you can't beat local knowledge. (I've learned lots using the "braille" method).

I will be heading to Exuma for a sea trial and survey this weekend. Let me know if there's anything I can check out for you locally.
