It all depends on what you want, gas/diesel, length, V-Bottom, Cat, Cruiser, amount that one can afford, etc, etc...

As for a go fast boat, I currently own a 42' Fountain Poker Run w/ twin 557 CI Sterling Race engines (1350hp ea) which didn't come in the PR...

many thanks for the links guys

V65 your 42' fountain looks pretty cool, i did some reading on that, do you know how much a brand new 2007 will cost?

I am not sure what i am after, i simply want to travel 500 miles in the shortest amount of time while riding at a safe speed with 8 people on the boat. I will be traveling the whole 500 miles in a complete straight line, maybe a few of those miles will bend a bit to get to my destination. I also want a boat in which i can travel at a very fast speed while also not needing to refuel for that whole 500 mile journey while still going at a safe speed. What sort of speed do you recommend this will be?

So are there any boats like this out there, i don't know if i want a power boat, i would like a luxury looking boat not too long, 2 areas on the boat so people can sun bathe, a ice rack for soft drinks, water ski locker, water ski tower, swim up platform, and that's all really and not too expensive, expensive but not too epxensive, you know what i mean.

So is there anything like that you guys know of?

    TIA

It varies alot, prices can go from 450k on up, depends on your engine options... But then again, a PR seats only 4 with no cabin...

It sounds like you want something somewhat fast, and seat 8 with some range, I suggest going the express cruiser route...

    hey thanks for the reply

can you get an express cruiser with a fuel tank that can travel a range of 500 miles before needing to refuel, that is what i am after.

Also a cruiser with perhaps the possibility of doing 500 miles while traveling at 100 - 200 MPH?

    TIA

My goodness, I read another thread you started, and you want a ski/wakeboarding boat for under 100k, go with MaterCraft or similar... As for a 500 mile range, get a diesel powered truck and tow it...:D

yeah i kind of want both if i can afford it

no but for real, are there no boats that have 500 mile range?

In the link below if you read the description it says it can do 572 miles at cruising speed of 40 mph, is this really true?

It also says it is powered by twin 425 HP engines

    http://www.blackfishmarine.com/fountain_38_express.htm

Also one other thing, i read that seadoo have a speedster 200 model that can cruise at 35 mph with a top speed of 55 mph, i can't find any price info anywhere on the net for a new 2007 model, do you know the price?

the 200 speedster has a 425 HP engine, and a 150 liter fuel capacity do you know how many miles you can do with this?

One last thing, i was searching you tube for a video of this seadoo model and then came across a video of the Worlds Fastest Seadoo Speedster the link is here

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=gzWcY0_mGgk&mode=related&search=

Do you know which speedster model this is?

please answer my questions, i am very grateful, just really want to get myself a boat.

    Many thanks

Yes you would. I would suggest the 48' Ocean Express Cat with 1800hp Lycoming T53-703 turbines. You can configure the cockpit to seat eight people with three bolsters up front and five in the rear.

The boat pictured is for sale in the offshoreonly.com classifieds. The asking price will astound you. I know if I had the money I would own that boat right now.

You would only need twin turbines so if you buy it you will need to do some transom work. I suggest BPM surface drives because with 1800hp on each drive you would break the Merc #6s very quickly.

Trust me when I say the asking price is probably 15% of what a new one would cost, so the turbine upgrade would be very cost-effective.

For the turbines I recommend Turbine Marine in south Florida. They are battle-tested on the Offshore Racing circuit.
