This is Royal Denship's 240' Princess Mariana. A site to behold at night...

Wow, she is absolutely beautiful, and knowing RD, she is as beautiful inside as she is on the outside.

This picture was furnished by "Underwater Lights USA". My thanks to their marketing director, Nicole, for supplying this image.

This is "Lady Lola", a 62m Oceanco being illuminated by their products.

WOW! Looks excellent? Has anyone see the Larraza 80 with the underwater lighting system?

They DO look nice! In addition they add a level of security and visibility that may prove valuable to a private yacht owner. I also think they make for good sales tool for the manufacturers. I'm sure will see more "well-lit" boats in the future.

The picture of that Lazzara that circulated around the magazines a while back seemed to jump start the underwater light craze. Even a person with a bad memory can't forget that pic.

I know...when I saw it, I was shocked...they look great. It would be a good promotional tool for boat dealers....kinda like the lights at car dealers...and for the manufacturers...they could use them in their ads. I wonder how they look when they're going...

They sure did. The underwater lights are impressive, but look a little closer at that picture and you'll see Lazzara really did their homework with onboard lighting. Very well thought out. Even the steps on the euro-transom are illuminated, as well as bow deck lighting. This is really helpful when working the lines, fenders or anchorage equipment at night.

    There but not really

Hate to burst everyone's bubble on the lights on the 106 Lazzara but they are not permanant. I am the captain of Impulse, the 106 in the picture and was onboard that night (as a matter of fact my wife and I got our picture made at one of the tables on the flybridge and made it into our Christmas card that year). Those are dive lights held on by suction cups. It took us about 4 hours to get that shot. We didn't get back into the slip until about 0300. The Atlantis wouldn't allow us to drop anchors in the harbour until after 2300. She does have two underwater lights on the transom but they were not installed until about 3 months later. What a cool picture though, it looked great on the cover of Showboats. By the way, I would never let anyone drill that many holes in my hull.

Thanks for heads up! In speaking with this company about equipping a vessel with underwater lights they seemed defensive about questions. I asked about hull integrity in case of accidental grounding. What's your opinion on these units?

I haven't had any issues with mine. I haven't even had to change a bulb in the 3 years that I have had them. If you look at them they are quite sturdy, so I wouldn't expect much of a loss in hull integrity. Also mine are located on the stern about 1 1/2' below the surface so I would really have to mess up to damage them in a grounding. If I had to do it over again I would probably angle them downward slightly. This seems to draw more fish and put on a better show for those onboard. However, I think with them straight out, like ours, it looks better when you are looking at the boat.

Yes it is Lady Lola :)
Here some pictures of a Azimut with Blue deck lights and underwaterlights, also a picture of Perini Navi's Andromeda La Dea, Love the lights.

Who has more pictures of this kind of styling with lights on yachts?
