Does anybody know of a supplier of stainless steel deadbolt locks. We are restoring an old 1964 AB yacht and the client wants to keep the exisiting door hardware. The problem is the deadbolts are brass and are in bad condition.

    Hi,

    1. Try ISSA / IMPA cataloques.
    2. Ask from big / famous shipsuppliers.
    3. If no results, please, post a picture / scetch with sizes. I will see, what can be done...

    rgds,

There is a company in Ft. Lauderdale called Eiserwaren (sp?) or Izerwaren who carries a bunch of obscure stuff.
    Good Luck.

    Locks...humm?

You made me pull a catalog I hadn't given much thought about. The company is called Hafele America Co. ...Nope, I don't see any standard 1 5/8, or is it 1 7/8" door-deadbolts.

Obviously, a lock needn't be that much more secure than the door itself. This book is chock-a-block with odd cabinet hardware and it seems ideally suited for some marine aps, particularly because of the recessed euro-design and the unusual dimensions. They got lots of brass and chromed brass. Their speciality is obviously kitchen and office cabinetware.

My question is where do we draw the line concerning these materials and their actual exposure to salt water?
