Since the last hurricane of the season is gone, I am back looking at boats again. Is there any info on this brand boat? I see it was built in the US, uses diesels, but can't find any info on build quality, fuel tank construction, electrical etc. It is listed in Brunswick, GA on facebook along with a dozen brokers. It a good drive from here in FL, so I would like to get some more info before I make a trip. Looks good in the pictures--:) Thanks

Talked to the broker---he said it was built in the same yard as a Jefferson in Taiwan, so not a US built boat. I guess that means steel fuel and water tanks. Says owner does not report any problems. Volvos are kinda small for a 46 footer---300hp each. I don't plan on going fast anyway. Didn't know if the hull was solid or cored. No recent survey. It's on the hard so it will be easy to check out.

Looks like an ole Marine Trader.
Lots of water and fuel. The typical steel tanks worry me but may have already been replaced.
I would consider this a good looking boat but I worry about it looks vs real seas.

Where are you at? Your cruising grounds? What you expect from her?

I also worry about the ole Volvos and past maintenance.
It is the ole mechanical monsters but the heat exchanger worry me. No more around.

I am not a fan of Wester-Brokes also.

Old boat, endless problems unless meticulously maintained with detailed records.
It looks clean in the pictures but who knows what lurks under deck.
I have purchased old boats myself and even with good surveys there were surprises, some of them
    costly.
I wouldn’t say run, there are some good older boats out there, but they better have really good bones, as in quality construction and quality bits and pieces.
Not familiar with this brand, thread carefully.

I am close to Daytona, a little west.
The tanks have not been replaced---one of my worries also. The 300hp each seems a little low for a 34,000# boat. The multiple heat exchangers are a concern. When I first looked at it, I asked the question online about build location and was told the US. OOPS! I thought it had a chance. With virtually no info and the company out of business is a deal breaker for me. Thanks for the replies.

For a long range cruiser, 300 HP each is a little much.
Single or twin 120 Lehmans were probably the original power options.
I think this puppy was re-powered with the Volvos long ago or they were used when installed.

At speed (600HP, 40GPH), that recliner and TV would bouncing the walls also.

With no data, comparisons, support or any other information on her, I would be nervous also.

It goes back to your future needs (dock queen or real cruising),
Your abilities as a master DIY boat tech and how much your wallet can take with out much warning.
Maybe a solid boat that you would need to re-power again in her future.

Many of us here have re-built old boats. Looking back I wonder if it would have been cheaper to have purchased a better boat (24 years ago) than the ole gal we did purchase and have been working on ever since.
