A new research vessel/yacht has been ordered at VARD. This one is a 162-meter platform called the RV11000 and it is building on the RV6000 platform. It is for Gabe Newell's Inkfish research organization. “We are extremely proud that Inkfish has returned to Vard Group for another research vessel,” explained Cathrine Kristiseter Marti, CEO at Vard Group. “This vessel is truly unique in all terms with a high level of new design ideas and technological solutions.”

While we are waiting on this one (the RV11000), construction has just started on the smaller Inkfish research vessel, the 100-meter RV6000. That just had its keel laid at the VARD shipyard. The RV6000 designation suggests that the vessel will carry ROVs that are capable of diving to 6000-meters. NB999 is the build number at VARD.
