Until "sandblasting" my props at the Hillsboro Inlet shoaling, the Prop Speed coating was holding up well, but instead of using it again the yard applied Prop Coat; claiming it was 100% Zinc, less money, and did a better job at keeping off growth. Any others using one or the other ?

We've been using Prop Coat Barnacle Barrier for several years, works OK. OTOH, we've always redone it most every year during our annual Spring haul-out. (Didn't, last year; diver said it was still fine in March.) Mostly we're in the Chesapeake, although with occasional winter trips further south...

We're researching for a sodablast/barrier coat/repaint project and recent info from Pettit suggested 3 thin coats of Prop Coat for single season protection, or finish (topcoat) with Hydrocoat ECO for multi-season protection.

They also offer Running Gear Guardian. Forum member somewhere else said Pettit told his yard that Running Gear Guardian was essentially the same as the Prop Coat/Hydrocoat ECO treatment. No clue if true...

I use prop coat on a few metal items like top of trim tabs and pickups. I use propspeed on all running gear. my experience is the prop speed is significantly better for the first year at not allowing growth. They’re quite different, the prop coat is more like tri Lux. The prop speed is very effective and really works and my experience much better than prop coat on things like propellers and shafts

and I would add that my diver absolutely loves prop speed His job is much easier, just wipe it off with a glove

prop coat is much cheaper, less than 1/4 the cost. Much easier to apply. But it is not self cleaning while underway like propspeed. Propspeed is a silicone finish that barnacles cannot attach to

At around 2 1/2 years since applied, the diver told me the Prop Speed was holding up very well and I knew boat still topped at 30 knots. Tri Lux formula must have been changed since when last used over 3 years ago on previous boat, it failed to stop growth, and when speaking to yard owner was told they stopped using it. He also told me the formula was changed in the Micron CSC I had them apply and to make sure the diver only sponge wiped it as it's softer now.
