As if dedicated remote controls weren’t bad enough… someone just had to come up with a phone based remote control for docking and is marketing it as a replacement for crew or a tool for inexperienced boaters.

Scares the 2 out of me

I have tried using yacht controllers remotes a few times over the years and never understood the point. A set of engine controls on the aft deck is much better and safer as you instinctively feel which way the boat is pointing

I think the dock controllers are blue-tooth already.
    Why not from your phone?

My son has all of his TVs, disk players, house thermostat, vacuum cleaner and other options controllable by his phone. Not IP controlled like Alexia (also on his phone).
Soon that kid will be driving his car like 007 from his phone.

I do agree, remote control of a water craft subject to commit lots of expensive damage if not loss of life, is not a real safe or smart operation, EVEN if you are 007.

We have already witnessed large motor craft get aweigh with operators at the helm..
