Brian, Stunning car indeed. It will be interesting to see what cars of today will stand out in a comparable way in 70 years’ time.
Gents, I have to admit my feelings toward the AI “enhanced” design is affecting me. I was at first tickled pink by the design presented to me with the help of AI based on my simple sketch but it was not long before I started to question the added “help”, even if the design was based on my sketch. Is this cheating...? I’m guessing the evolution of graphic design from scribbles on a napkin to 2D and later 3D and AI will stir up some feelings. A new take on “pretty pictures” ... If you start out with a sketch in 2D and then add the 3D element and some realistic surfaces and surroundings, will this make the design more “legit” compared to the AI enhanced image based on the same original sketch? ...thoughts...?
I doubt that AI will come up with better images than you Kajan. BTW, somehow all of my 4 gmail accounts got screwed up and I could not get into them !! And what a circular circus it was to try to restore them !! I had to resort to a computer person to help sort out this mess,...just to prove it was me.
Brian, thank you for your kind words! I have since last posting been doing some research and from what I gather some of the recognized design studios (Yachts, cars, houses, interior design...) actually do use AI in some way during the design process. Being a one man band I find the AI aspect an interesting contribution, it’s like having a creative design crew assisting in the design process.
Hi Mike, Just to give you a bit more of a challenge, what might you come up with for any changes to the looks of this bi-rigged catamaran, with free standing mast? Not that it really needs it,.. as it is quite good looking on its own. What is quite amazing about this design is the simplicity of handling this sailing rig, while providing excellent performance,...and great safety.
I also found this write and accompanying photos very interesting,...long boat, not all utilized to 'pack-in' accommodations https://www.cruisingworld.com/people/a-dream-takes-flight/
It’s been a while since I posted any new designs and I have an urge to change that. I have been thinking of a different approach to new design this time, and I would like to run the idea by the YF members. I would like to introduce an idea where the different designs would be based on the viewers continuous and interactive input during the design process. The design would be from scratch and of course the aim is not blueprint level, think “pretty pictures” I’m thinking different designs in different categories, from smaller pleasure crafts to Mega Yachts in all shapes and sizes. The categories could range from Pontoons, Jet skis, turbine cats, fishing vessels, racing to Yachts in different sizes and for different purposes. Monohulls and cats, both motor and sail. For use in US, Arctic, Mediterranean or Scandinavian waters, whatever gets your boat floating, bring it on! I’m thinking the YF members could contribute with thoughts and ideas and where possible contribute to the design with preferable design methods and tools. Perhaps simple 2D design ideas, like my own, could be combined with 3D and even A.I. assisted design contributed by the members. We need to agree on some specific design projects and size respectively. Perhaps keeping it to 3-4 different projects to make it manageably. They could all be running in parallel and in new separate threads. I have not thought this endeavor through in detail and I was hoping for the YF members to pitch in when it comes to a preferable way forward. Definitely high and low, no doubt, but hopefully, we can find best practice and not forgetting the aim and to have fun and not to take this too seriously. To get things started, I’m posting some of my old designs to get your thinking going. …thoughts? Happy Holidays! Best/Mike
