    Hi,

We have a 1988 Carver 4207 that we would like to add dog-friendly steps on the stern from the aft deck to the swim platform. We're located in the Alton, IL area. I've done some Google searches and gotten a little bit of info (enough to know that it's been done before), but haven't found enough information to figure out how we can actually get it done. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Hello Pauli
    Welcome to yacht Forums

Puppies need long and easy steps.
Some puppies can deal with steep stair cases but the family member does age and will need longer & shorter steps so plan on this now.

I have witnessed whole stair cases spanning the whole transom sideways.
This idea was for the puppies originally but after knee surgery, the owner really appreciated the design, Yes, people need help also.

This is all custom design and no one answer may be of benefit to your transom.

Look forward to the results of your research and what you end up with.

I once saw a custom addition to a bridge ladder, built by Pipe Welders, who can probably build what you want.
