    Hi All,

I'm looking at a Tiara 42 Open with 1600 hrs on Cummings QSM 11 675 hp engines. Boat looks pristine, all service records available.

Any one out there have experience with this set-up ?

Greatly appreciate your advice & thoughts !

No clue about the boat, but if you don't know already reading suggests you should look over Tony Athen's/Seaboard Marine recommendations on how to best manage QSMs.

(Mods: if that's overstepping, delete away...)

Thanks Chris - pulled Tony's post on the QSMs already. Wealth of information on how to prop those engines, if I make the move on the boat I'll be asking the current owner about it ...

I owned a 42 however had Cat C12's. The Cummins motors are a little smaller which will improve accessibility in a tight engine compartment. Overall the boat is pretty well thought out and above average quality for the price. They are solid glass below the water line, however be sure to take a moisture meter/IR Cam to the hull sides as the engine compartment plenum drains have been a known area of water intrusion into the balsa core.

Hi Maxwell - That is super helpful information from someone who owned one ! I'm too old now (72) to contort myself in an engine room for routine maintenance issues so I'll hire someone who can. Will absolutely take appropriate measurements in the engine compartment.

    Many thanks Capt,
