New to site - has anyone experienced issues with wiring on Volvo TAMD 74...issues are :

    1. Inadvertent shifting into reverse
    2. Sudden loss of RPM while underway, and then sudden restoration
    3. Starting problems

I understand there is a recall from Volvo - as anyone dealt with this?
Any help is appreciated - Thank You

Before boatdeisel went offline there were lots of threads about similar problems. The problem I had was the neutral safety switch not allowing one of the motors to start. But it seems to always come down to one of the connectors in the wiring looms having a problem, or in my case a corroded butt connector. The number of harnesses and the connectors are the big reliability problem with those motors. One solution is to cut them all out and replace them with more reliable connectors but it’s a huge amount of work. Other thing is to just replace the wiring harnesses. I think a Volvo dealer can still get them. Either way it’s a PITA and all too common of a problem. They are great motors otherwise.
