Black buzzer; CO2 sensor??

    I found this black buzzer going off at random times but not very often. Does anyone know what this is designed for? It is on starboard side master stateroom. I was thinking that it was a CO2 sensor but would like to hear input. Thank you as always for any help that can be provided.

    Do you really think we can offer any intelligent input if don’t bother describing the sensor or better post a picture…. No brand or markings? How old is the boat?

    Btw, co2 is carbon dioxide which is primarily used a fire extinguishing agent. The stuff you want to detect is Carbon Monoxide aka CO aka the silent killer.

    Boats can be full of buzzers, like anchor alarms, bilge water level alarms, bilge pump active alarms, smoke detectors, CO detectors, radar proximity alarms, AIS alarms, autopilot or heading alarm and probably a few more including low battery alarms for some of the above sensors, detectors, buzzers, etc.
    Snap a picture of the offending buzzer and post right here and somebody on this board will most likely recognize it.

    In fact, the most intelligent answer to the OP question about what his buzzer is designed for is - ahem - to buzz! :D

    I'm sure that is not factory.
    Reminds me of a home made bilge alarm.
    Some old Loran/GPS had remote alarm connects. Anchor watch?
    Start turning one breaker off at a time and/or follow the wires.

    Looks like an alarm buzzer not a CO detector.

    could be an anchor alarm, fire detector, high water …

    only way to know is to trace the wiring

    Yeah, old and hardwired, no battery, no Bluetooth, no WiFi.
    Probably a repeater from whatever, the bridge or bilge.
    Either way, quite useful except when it blows false alarms;)

    Confusing when you don't know what it is alarming.
    Sheet; Could be high water in a shower sump for what we know.
