Gen 1:2 listed on YW for sale. Someone has completely renovated a classic 72. She's reportedly in Jax, FL. Has anyone been aboard or seen the work? Really great to see a quality revival, if that's what she is (and appears to be)...

She sure is fancy and pretty.

That is the Lambs boatyard in the background.
    I'm sure(hope) just for a bottom job.

It seems to me that the old Burgers in this size range have the capacity to fill a market void as new-ish vessels produced by the Burger yard at a price point below the new alternative. Im curious as to how this one for sale plays out...does it prove the concept as viable?

Burger recognized this market a few years ago and introduced a line of retro-inspired new builds. Sycara IV is a good example of their ability to turn back time, but at what cost? Refitting a classic might be more cost effective but if a new build is in the same range, that's likely a very niche market.

GEN 1:2 was built as SMALL WORLD. They did a really nice job refitting her and she is looking good! Unfortunately, I haven't seen her in person, but we did see photos of the refit as it took place.

Wow, Small World was on my short list along with Emerald. In the end, you steered me in the right direction, Ron. Thank you.

I like the concept but a little disappointing that she has rebuilt engines and not new modern engines and drivetrain. My experience has been that rebuilt engines are not as reliable as new engines. Factory reman is a different story.

Modernizing the engines is a tall task on the next level of re-engineering these boats. Yes, I could put a nice pair of modern 6 cylinder aboard, and while the fuel consumption may improve, they'll be computerized engines with ECM's and electronic sensors in every quadrant. An old 2 cycle Detroit has parts readily available through numerous channels, and very little will stop it from getting me home. There is no more reliable engine than a well built two stroke. These beasts are rebuilt in place, on their mounts. Holes are cut in the hull beneath the engines, and crank and pistons drop through the holes. They rebuild in place.

The old generators get swapped to new, modern units. I have two new Northern Lights aboard. I see no reason to replace my main iron. They've been rebuilt twice. No reason to replace them. Just rebuild them again when the time comes. Yes, if the parts ever become obsolete, that perspective will change.
