  1. Progress On Largest Sailing Catamaran In The World
The world's largest sailing Catamaran yacht is currently under construction and the rig for it is also under construction. What is believed to be christened as "Charley 3" when completed will have a two-masted dyna-rig system to support its 1,660 square meter sail plan. This will make it the largest sailing catamaran with a dyna-rig installed. Also known as Project ASC58, it is the first sailing catamaran to utilize a dyna-rig.
  2. The largest sailing catamaran currently is the Perini Navi "Art Explorer" which measures in at 46.5-meters. As for Project ASC58, the design, Naval Architecture and layout is all the work of Dykstra Naval Architects. The last time the dyna-rig was used on a yacht was with the "Black Pearl" and before that, the yacht that debuted the system, "Maltese Falcon".
  3. "Echo Yachts is extremely excited and proud to have been selected to custom build this magnificent catamaran sailing superyacht, and looks forward to bringing the yacht to fruition with our client, Dykstra and One2Three," said yard owner and director Mark Stothard. "This new superyacht will truly elevate the term ‘green superyacht design’ with its low resistance catamaran hull form, sail-powered capability and other emission-reducing technologies."
  4. More about the rig...it is being built by Southern Spars and will be finished as two free-standing rotating masts. When the yacht is completed in 2028 it will have a fully-automated sail-handling system that allows the entire 1,660 square meter sailplan to be managed by a single crew member utilizing a digital control panel. The vessel will be a landmark vessel not just owed to its type vs size but the rig being attached to it. It is also the yard's foray into custom sailing yacht construction.
