  1. 111-meter "Leviathan" Launches At Oceanco
Dutch superyacht builder Oceanco has launched their latest superyacht. Just recently they launched the 111-meter superyacht known as build number Y726 and now they have launched another 111-meter superyacht called "Leviathan", the build known as Y722. This diesel-electric superyacht will put to sea the passions and expertise of all that worked on her. To share in that testament, there is a piece of glass in the main staircase that is engraved with the names of 2,000 individuals involved in the build. It is to serve as a permanent reminder that this yacht was built by people, for people.
  2. In terms of design work, the Naval Architecture is the work of Lateral Naval Architects. The exterior was done in-house by Oceanco while the interiors were formulated by Mark Berryman Design. Every element has been developed to enhance functionality and comfort for both crew and guests. There are some elements to this yacht's design especially on the exterior decks that are not done to the traditional finishes. Traditional high-maintenance elements like polished handrails with wooden cappings, teak decks and vast painted superstructure sections were intentionally replaced with smart alternatives such as composite capping rails/decks and full height glass superstructure bulkheads were seamlessly integrated, all without compromising but enhancing aesthetics.
  3. On the interior too, specific materials were chosen and integrated, aimed at reducing crew overload on cleaning like how they typically would have to do with traditional high-maintenance materials. Durable, ease of care materials like honed stone and natural wool carpets reduce upkeep, allowing crew to focus on the things that truly matter – whether it is creating richer guest experiences, supporting onboard scientific work, or managing complex operations in real time.
  4. "Leviathan represents a new philosophy of yachting – one that places greater purpose at the heart of design, ownership and operations," says Deniz de Koningh, Project Director at Oceanco. "The owner's vision sets a forward-thinking example of how yachts can be built and used with intent. We are excited to see the influence she may have in shaping the future of the industry." At 111-meters long the vessel stretches to a wide breadth measuring 17.8-meters.
  5. Oceanco has placed emphasis on the yacht's practical nature. Designed not around tradition, but around purpose, Leviathan puts people at the heart of every decision. From day one, crew were invited into the process – not just as operators, but lending their operational insights to shape a yacht that works better for those who run it. In terms of more stats on the vessel, these will be released in the coming weeks.
  6. Now that Leviathan has been launched she will be prepared to commence her sea trials in the coming weeks. The builder says that more details about her capabilities and the philosophy behind her will be shared soon. "A sanctuary of comfort where silence meets strength, Leviathan wrapped in her sharp lines represents a superb synergy of form and function." says Dan Morgan, Managing Director of YTMC. YTMC acted as the owner's technical representatives.
