Hi guys I'm new to this forum but am so interested in all these great yacht designs that you've inspired me to come up with my own! It's a 100 meter slightly radical design, tell me what you think!
hm seems like a very nice design, but the pic is too big, please post smaller pics, if you want to post them oh - and welcome to the forums
You ask what we think ? Well....I am not sure about the proportions : when I see those people on the side deck either the yacht is not 100 meters or those people are very tall (By the way : they seem just as long as the RIB !). Second point : the only open deck is devoted to the helicopter. So : not much deck space for sun worshippers ! Third point : the superstructure has three decks with windows, but the cabin behind the lowest deck has only "observation" possibilities to that very high bow ? Anyway : great attempt and welcome to the forum !
Hi Guys, thanks for all the positive comments please keep them coming. I realy love these type's of yachts and I want to be able to design better ones in the near future. This is my first attempt at designing a superyacht but I'm inspired! Thanks again to all!
? !! ? Will surely be noticed. Looks too much like a NIKE commercial for my taste. At least you would not have a problem spotting your boat coming back to the dock late at night.
Hmm...a design mix...The bow area looks like a explorer and the rest like a high speed ferry...looks not bad, but it's not my thing
You know I just love the feedback, please keep it coming! It dosn't matter if it's good or bad but please keep it honest. I'm in the process of designing a second yacht and I'm taking all you're advise in the design process so hopefuly it might be closer to the mark! But you know what's funny? Women seem to love the shape and color sceme! Men seen to look at the functionality and practicality of the design! So I'm designing one that will incorporate both! This first yacht I designed took me from thinking to finished picture, about 4 hours, but the new one will take me considerably more, but nevertheless I think its so much fun!
I'd like to toss my .02 cents in... First, welcome Melahrinaki! Glad you joined. Next, although most of us immediately question functionality, we need to extend credit when a bold design is presented. Melahrinaki's rendering is BOTH Curvy & Edgy, essentially the current trend in automotive style. There are aspects of this design that are intriguing and might warrant further study. On the flip side... I think it shows that an Explorer/Expedition bow doesn't work well with a contemporary superstructure. From a functional standpoint, the pilothouse visibility is limited. That said, the windows at midship would indicate the salon has soaring ceilings. Melahrinaki may be ahead of the curve on this, as it’s an emerging trend. Let's see some more Mel!
I think the super structure is great , OK I agree with those functional isues. However the Bow area partciularly the rake is in my opinion out of synch with the restof the design, I'd suggest a more elegant rake and less of a fcsle although it would be a fineline between losing the explorer look and making her sleek I think it can be refined.
Totally unreal design....if that's what 4 hours on a computer does for you then get back to the drawing board. A good CAD operator is not necessarily a good designer.
Tell ya what fella, unless you have the skills to generate something better, it might be best to keep unnecessary, harsh comments to yourself. The young man already admitted this is his first attempt at drawing a superyacht. You might consider giving him a little leeway, 'cause you just traveled down a narrow channel with me. I agree with CCamper positive criticism is good but this one was harsh. If you can do better please show us. I think all of us would like to see what you can come up with
If this is straight out of your head, well done for getting your ideas out in a graphic and realistic way. No point in hitting a keen beginner hard, you should be encouraged and given guidance....... Next step Mel is to give some thought to packaging. 100 Metres is a lot of yacht to play with, and a lot of decks. An early look at deck levels / headrooms / visibility from wheelhouse and guest areas could quickly develop into a mark II design that packages your ideas into a more satisfying (from your point of view) and complete concept. You have an idea of what you want it to look like from the outside, this idea may change once you have a closer look at what accommodation layout you could offer inside. Depends how interested you are, and how far you want to go..........
i was on a small bulk carrier loaded to her marks today which looked quite like that hull. however the superstructure and the presentation is very good indeed. look forward to seeing more of your designs.
Welcome to Yacht Forums! I recently joined too (my account was accidentally deleted). I love your use of color in the design and the hull is very unique. The over sized glass windows used in the design are a great idea for when passages would like to see the nice view. Your proportions are a little off but I still think this yacht design is a great starter, its also your first. I think you should do interior concepts for this yacht. Keep up the good work! What design software did you use to make this concept yacht? Please respond to this comment and tell me, I would love to make a yacht concepts using this software.
Welcome to Yacht Fourms! I do like the concept because it is different from the rest. I am always a fan of something different/ new. This is very impressive for your first attempt at designing a super yacht. Keep it up and keep working at it. Hopefully we get to see some more from you!
