Does anyone have a clue of what happened to Malcolm Forbes second Highlander, the 98´Feadship from 1957? I first read about The Highlander in an old copy of Yachting magazine and found it to be very beautiful. The last sign I have proof of is from ca 1967 when the boat had a new owner and was renamed "Defiance". It was again in Yachting ad this time in a charter ad. In the "Feadship Fleet" publication, there is no Highlander from 1957, or any boat that size? Are you sure it was a Feadship?
Yes Yes I am. However I think Feadship is trying to adapt the history a bit. Many of The big Feadships of that era was built by the Feadship yard, De Vries Lentsch. For example, Souris and Highlander. The Highlander is pictured in The Feadship Pilot from 1987 and is well advertised as a Feadship in 1957. The yacht was designed by H.W. de Voogt,and built by shipyard Het Fort at Amsterdam-N. This yard was the oldest de Vries Lentsch yard and also the only de Vries Lentsch member of the F-ship organisation. The other de Vries Lentsch yard: "Amsterdam Shipyard N.V. " was never member of the Feadship. De Vries Lentsch Shipyard "het Fort" was a much bigger organisation than the Vries or van Lent at the time. All the major bigger Feadship's were built by this yard. So also the steel Highlander. Is the Feadship fleet a book? Regards Scope
You are right in that they are focusing on yachts built by the present Feadship yards and not all six shipyards that was there prior to 1966. The "Feadship Fleet" are 12 page brochures, my latest is called "Spotters Guide" from 2003, and consists of a picture, the first name and the size of most of the yachts (but not all) from the thirties on.

Looking for data/pictures on 1956 51 ft feadship Gents, I would greatly appreciate any pictures/info/data from any of your feadship books or add collections on a 51 foot feadship motoryacht built in 1956 -- particularly pictures of the original -- I don't have the name but think it is the only one of its size built that year.
