Feadship Gallery Correction...

    Hi Carl,
    just noticed the former Gallant Lady Sportfish once owned by Jim *****. This was also a Miss Judie at one time, then was sold to Roy Speer and became The Dream. Last I Heard, it was being used as a tender for one of the Italian entires in the Americas Cup, but I do not beleive she is still being used for that purpose today. Iam pretty sure she was only 87', not 116'. There was also a sister-ship, I am not sure what her name was, and she was also 87' to the best of my recollection.

    Did Jim ***** have a third sportfish built that was larger than his first two (he had to build two for feadship to agree to build him a sportfish). The one I am referring to was built in approximately 1984/85, and somewhere around Hull#629/630.

    Nice to hear from you. I'm sure you are correct on the length, as this would be gigantic for a sportfish of this era. The image supplied to me by Feadship was labelled as a 116'. Thank you for correcting this error.

    I am doing well, just been really busy lately and have not been here as much as I would like. I will get the pics of the big Roi together as well. I will send you a PM.

    I went to the fedship site, and I see the confusion since it lists gallant lady as 116 sportfish (as well as many other Gallant ladies). I thought I was losing my mind. THen I went to the history section which has a picture of everyboat built from 1920 to 2004. In 1984, the Feadship site has the attached picture (I did a screen capture). Sure looks like they used the same picture. Now the question I have is whether there was a 116 footer built for Jim ***** or if this is just a typo. Any ideas?

    I'll be speaking with Hein Velema, the marketing director for Feadship next week and I'll try to get some clarification, as well as make him aware of the error on their site. By the way... nice screen capture!! ;)

    There was a Gallant Lady of 116´built in the late eighties. I think that boat was Renamed Detroit Eagle and later Allegra. In the early eighties I think it might have been built a pair of 26 m sportfishers. As in the posting from 2003.

    The 116´Gallant Lady that became Detroit Eagle was delivered in 1988. However, some people are calling this kind of boat a "Yachtfish"...
