The fan motor in the guest bunk room on my Cabo 40 started to squeal today. Sounds like a bearing issue in the motor maybe. Has anyone had a similar issue and if so how do you gain access to the air handler fan motor?

It's been a long time but I believe it is under the bunk near the a/c unit.

The air handler is below the stbd hanging locker in the guest bunk room. The locker is easily removed which then provides easy access to the air handler. Bearings in the fan motor are failing.

I removed the door and then the wood screws on either side of the frame and the whole hanging locker slides out. Good access. Now to find a new motor to fit the air handler fan.

Shoot a fair amount of lubricating oil ( tri-flow ) or something along those lines for now until you get your replacement fan. It will most likely quiet it down and make it still usable until replaced.

My freezer fan was squeaking like crazy and I shot it with lube spray and it's been 2 years and no squeaks. ( now it will probably act up again )

Everything is back together and working perfectly. I even installed one of those Airlock units.

I will provide feedback on the Airlock performance. I never noticed any musty smells on the Cabo, however my wife has mentioned a few times she noticed a slight musty smell. Lets see if this air purifier/ionizer product produces the no smell result...I will let you all know what my wife says! Airlock guest stateroom.jpg
