   15Amps thru a Nason switch. Fireworks come to my mind first.
   Somebody messed up if this is a common problem.
   Lucky for us, I have extra hammers (and wire crimps)..

   Extra hammer averted. I moved the fuel pressure switch circuit to between the start switch & 1st solenoid (new 10 AWG wires). Worked fine even with extended cranking. I just cut one of original FP switch 6 AWG leads shorter and connected it to the solenoid on the starter.
