I pulled into Chubb yesterday and heard that as of 6/1/23 they are converting to some quasi club ownership. Something about you will need to be an Idol to gain access to the marina, etc. There are different tiers of ownership so maybe it will accommodate those who want limited access for not a big investment. I have not heard all of the details yet but as I understand it you will need to be a member to get fuel and slips. I could be wrong on some details but thought it might be of use to post this as it is a pretty important stop for a lot of people. Would suck to make the crossing all the way here and get turned away at the end of the day.

Have they gone insane??? This is the page that pops up after you click on the main Chub Page.

    https://islandidols.io/about/

a special app, NFT and crypto….

almost looks like the Chub Cay website has been hacked. Or maybe they just hired the marketing person from bud Light :)

Speaking of Bud light, I talked to an old friend who services the St Louis brewery and he says they are operating at 48% due to the issue they've created.

Wow what a website. Wonder if anyone will bite and purchase. I’ll find another place.

Last trip to the exumas i cleared at Morgan’s Bluff. Got there in the evening, dropped the hook, dinghied in the morning, harbor master called customs and an hour later we were underway. No dockage, no dealing with incompetent slow staff, etc.

Fuel in Chub is $1 a gallon more than Nassau which is only 40nm away…. No point in stopping there

MANY years ago I worked for one of the, then, owners of Chub. Of course he also had the about the largest boat that could get in. (And largest plane too). We had to go in with no fuel or water just to get in. Once in the basin we'd take on fuel and I'd start making water. Had to run gen the entire time. We'd play mother ship to a couple of sport fishers he also owned.

Chub is a nice stop. It is, full stop. That being said, this web site link is a disaster that can't be taken seriously.

Spoke with Chub, and apparently it's legit. They're going private. Members only.

It also does appear they are shifting currency and promoting bit coin transactions.

Has anybody figured out their tier membership charges?

So, Once club chubb starts this endeavor, how long before they start welcoming non-members money again?

There's an upcoming "auction" to buy a coin. You need one coin to gain access. As if you had nothing else to think about and prioritize with your navigating. Place wasn't actually "thriving" on my last passage.

I was there 3 days ago and I noticed it was not very crowded. I even asked one of the marina people and they said they had been slow but Memorial Day was supposed to be really busy.

I am at Palm Cay now and this place is charging $6.50/ft. It is a very nice place. But they are pushing it at that rate. I might try Lyford again, next time.

I looked at Chub’s website a week ago or so in case we had to head to the exumas this weekend, they had plenty of slip even the big ones.

Yeah, I just don't see this marketing plan as one destined to get airborne at any altitude. Which means buy in, if I'm doubting...

I called their reservations desk and had no issue booking a slip, but of course I'm not going and won't be back in the water for another week...so I didn't actually book...but they did confirm the transition and referred me to their web page. I just can't seem to take that web page seriously.

I found it odd on my last trip into Chub, both ends of a voyage, that neither time did they have an actual slip assignment until I was passing the fuel dock. I was able to raise them from the outer markers and announce the entry and arrival, and both times they advised me to call back once inside. Same result, both time, I was assigned a slip after I had passed the fuel dock and was rounding the north tee head. Just let odd. Plenty of slips.
