    Hi
Would these work on a 50amp 220v set up, if the plugs were changed?
    Thanks

Stringer Bell is not your scammer. You were contacted via Private Message by a scammer with a similar item for sale.

Yes apparently the NIGERIAN that you didn't check out who piggybacked my inquiry was the scammer
So don't trust anyone on this site

Posting a copy of the email I sent you this morning. Your response used language unsuitable to post.

    ***

I'm SO SORRY!!! I just looked at the IP address and it's coming from Nigeria. The account has been banned. The only information I have that could be useful (hardly) is the registration address: eaachapters106@gmail.com

Stringer Bell is local to our area. I know he's sold other items successfully. I don't believe he's associated with this scam. My control Panel is not showing any listings by Demmer so I'm a little confused how you found him/contacted him?

We've been running YF for 20 years and never had a problem until Oct of last year. We've removed a few scammers from Nigeria. This was the reason I posted warnings on top of the For Sale forums. We've found subtle clues in email exchanges including misspelled words, a lack of physical addresses, proper names and a general lack of conveying or articulating details that a serious seller would use.

We evaluate each new member at registration, but we don't always check IP addresses if the rest of the member profile adds up. There is no formula for this, just a gut instinct after looking at 1000's of profiles over 20 years. Scammers have become more sophisticated and they aren't transparent.

If they are set up with Zelle, this is often a clue. The average owner/seller is not using apps. If they aren't using an identifiable domain extension this is often another clue. Disposable internet addresses like gmail should be avoided.

I'm working the Palm Beach Boat Show this week so I'll be out of pocket for the next few days. I really don't know if you have any recourse but for our part, we may have to ban all Google mail from registering.

    Right.
Then you approve someone with an IP address in Nigeria and let them claim they are from New York
You have really gone above and beyond to protect people

I know you’re angry. I don’t blame you. I would be too! We catch most of them. It’s a full-time job! This is the reason we posted beware of scammers on top of the classifieds. Unfortunately, this can happen on any platform.

I realize its a big problem.
I am currently working in Canada on a tugboat, my wife is in Alabama on our boat. We had shore power issues affecting our HVAC and 30 degree temps. We were trying to get this remedied and I admit we missed red flags. One being the inquiry appeared to be from the original seller who I had checked out as best I could.
    Lessons learned, albeit expensive ones
    Enjoy the boat show

I'm sorry for the scam also.
    This is a great site.
I'm sure your investigating charge reversals and have contacted your local law enforcement offices.

Even thru e-bay, I have been ripped off big-time.

If your having HVAC issues, Many of us service this equipment and service dock power issues.
If you open a new thread and explain all that is happening, we may be able to help.

Boost transformers are a balance of current vs volts.
They are not the usual correct fix for A/C issues.

I am a great fan of this sites security efforts.
I did not realize Gmail was an issue.
I have a few Gmail accounts.

Is there a preferred e-mail domain?

Not sure exactly what you are trying to solve. If you need a transformer to increase voltage I have one you can have for free, just handle the shipping cost. It’s not one of these portable in-line plug in though. You need to mount it in your boat and hardwire it in. It will take 50 amp, single phase 208v and increase it to right about 240v. If memory serves, it’s 10 KVA. Heck I’ll even ship it to Seattle for you and you just deal with forwarding cost to you. It’s just sitting in my storage collecting dust. I installed as my marina originally only had 208v but they upgraded and now I get 240v so I removed it. I have option of shore power input on either side of my boat so I put the transformer on the stbd incoming to boost that to 240v. If I went somewhere that had 240v I just plugged into the other side and bypassed the boost. Maybe not what you’re looking for but if interested just let me know. I’m 95% sure I still have it. 5% change my my guy got rid of it in a clean-out of storage but I don’t think so.

That’s an incredibly generous offer, Dockmaster! For my part, I’ll pay the shipping costs. Let me know the amount and I’ll send a check. :)
