Water tank sending unit mounted in the SIDE of the tank about midway top to bottom. Float would no longer float and the ohms reading jumps all over. Gauge is made by Faria tests fine so new sending unit should take the mystery out of how much water onboard. Strange thing about the sending unit is the round flange that screws to the tank only has 4 evenly spaced screw holes and not the typical one with 5. Anyone run into this and find source for new one ?
Tap on High Tide Marine. They used to have a place in the Keys but now in N.C. http://www.hightidemarine.cc/
A company named Rochester Gauges in Texas manufactures that float unit. My Bertram has a custom water tank with a side mounted sender float style unit exactly as you describe.
Evidently they only custom build for their distributers such as tank builders so waiting on two of them and takes 12-14 weeks. Better option might be making adapter from the 4 hole to the standard 5 but not finding ANY side mount senders other then theirs ??
Rochester delivered to us in < half the time quoted a few years ago (pre-covid). I'm sorry I did not think of them in my earlier post. Was hoping HighTide would help with one off the shelf. Their not Sam's, but close.
So after careful exam of the sender; turns out with the exception of the electric conversion module that works via magnet from the mechanical part and has the two spade connection terminals it's completely mechanical and that part works. The float became so heavy would no longer float and a multimeter showed the electric module is bad. Donovan's Supply had the module and Amazon had what sounds like an improved rubber float so items on the way and hopefully will be good for another 25 years. Thanks all.
