RE Naples, received the following two days ago. From condo owner at corner of 3rd Street South and 3rd Avenue South. "several inches of water and sand infiltration ---. The new fire station had 3 feet of water" and from a friend one block east of Gordon Drive "house is OK. However, the Port Royal Club is severely damaged" "same for the Yacht Club" " entire downtown is flooded".

I saw the footage of the flooded fire trucks and equipment. I wonder who is the genius who approved building a brand new fire station a few blocks from the gulf or Mexico. Worse, how come neither the city or the fire chief realized they needed to move millions of dollars worth of trucks to higher ground!!

it’s not rocket science. NHC says 12’ of storm surge…. If you are sitting 5’ above sea level move the equipment paid by tax payers!!!

Just got back. Place is a mess, traffic not bad but didn't get close to the closure. Large areas with no power and little if any fuel. Handed out 6 tons of food and water to tired residents. 150 gallons of gas went quick! Was most rewarding thing helping these unfortunate storms survivors. Hopefully their days will get better. The power and tree crews were starting to show up in force. Several Chinook helos flying to Sanibel to rescue people. A resident we helped visited Sanibel yesterday total destruction, won't ever be the same again. Most houses are totally destroyed. Highway has many areas with significant damage. No telling what condition water and sewer is in.

    Great job…

Back in 2019 (?) we did two trips to green turtle cay after Dorian with the 84 filled to the ceiling with supplies including big alum tubs of east to reheat food from local restaurants. The smile on the face of people getting their first hot meal in a week was priceless. Even brought frozen pizzas for the school kids which we heated up in the oven before brining to the what was left of the school

the little things are important for the moral since they have a long road ahead

If you're heading across the state from Stuart, Vero or Melbourne, be aware Highway 70 is flooded in Arcadia. Not passable at this time.

Correct but it is not close to the area flooded by the surge…

on a related subject, fire departments are still dealing with flooded electrical bursting into flames days after the water receded

As well as Babcock is a new development that is built on raised lands and to BOCA specs, probably to minimum 175mph.
They didn't lose power because its all underground and not attached to the FPL grid.
