Does anyone have experience with C-Hawk? My son is looking at purchasing a new C-Hawk 19 with a Tohatsu 115hp engine.

    Thanks!

Not exactly a yacht, and im a bit surprised to see this thread on YF, but i have a 22 chawk pilot house.
The boat is used commercially and it works 12 months a year including breaking ice up to about 2" thick
The boat is an absolute tank that gets abused and carries a ton of gear.
It has done everything I have asked it to do.
More than once, i have had it out in weather conditions that exceeded its intended design. (not recommended)
It is an extremely stable work platform for its size with a modified V hull and hard chines.
Mine goes over 30 kts wot with a Yami 150, and the boat is usually loaded with gear and equipment.
I think the dead rise is about 10 degrees which helps to make the boat stable at rest when working gear, but it doesnt ride like a modern deep v in a chop.
I would say Chawk is a no frills but capable commercial style work boat.
I have zero problems with mine that were not caused by heavy abuse.
You get alot for your money. I would not hesitate to buy a new Chawk.
    Good luck to your son!

Thanks so much! We got a bit more confidence when the surveyor we hired said that his best friend has one and loves it. So far the dealer in St. Pete's has been outstanding to work with.

    Thanks again!

    I am a Tohatsu fan.
But years ago, my fathers shop had a hard time getting parts. I wonder about this in a remote area (GTMO).

Thanks, Ralph, good to know you're a Tohatsu fan. We are getting a list of spare parts from the chief mechanic at the dealer. He deals with the repairs, so he should be able to anticipate what might be needed in the future. The C-Hawk will be transported to GITMO by Navy barge out of Jacksonville... and she will be loaded with parts.

Captholli: Residents on the base are confined to the base and to water extending 12 miles out. Twelve miles allows for plenty of territory for fishing, spear diving, and free-diving. When I got the call with my favorite words to hear: "I need a boat," I knew he was having a blast :D

Ralph: Sorry I'm not coming to Jx to see her loaded. I'll have to find another excuse for a visit.
