    Hi everyone.

These forums have been awesome to read through and I have learnt so much already just buy reading.

In Feb next year I will be resigning from my current job to start my career in sailing. (love the sound of that)

I will be attending a crew member’s course through Sunsail and if I am correct I will have a RYA day skipper shore based certification with a STCW 95. I have not sailed before and I thought it best to receive some proper training before I set out on this adventure.

I am a qualified surf-lifeguard, open water 1 scuba diver and have been an avid deep sea fisherman for many of my years. So my sea legs are pretty stern. I hope 

My problem however is employment after I have completed the course. I would like to get into things straight after I have done the course.

Does anybody know of how I can get on a vessel from South Africa to anywhere in the world? Should I fly somewhere else to get myself onto some busy docks?

Any ideas, suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

eager- Welcome to the the Forums.
From the lack of response to your thread I think you may have chosen a bad time to post your question. You see, the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show is this week, so many people are focussing their attention on that event right now (me included). I suggest that you do a search on this site about getting a start in yachting and then renew your question again sometime late next week.
    Good luck,
    Ken
